This article discusses the poem Sonneth 18 by William Shakespare, language style and its use in poetry are always interesting to study, one of which is alliteration and assonation which will be discussed in this article. Alliteration and assonance are sound techniques that are often used by poets to add beauty and power of expression to poetry. This research aims to analyze the use of alliteration and assonance in the poem Sonnet 18 by William Shakespeare using descriptive qualitative methods. Through text analysis, this research identifies the patterns of alliteration and assonance used by Shakespeare in Sonnet 18, and explains how these techniques contribute to the overall meaning of the poem. The results of the analysis show that the alliteration and assonance in this poem not only enrich the rhythm and musicality, but also deepen the message the poet wants to convey about the eternity of beauty and love. It is hoped that this research will provide a deeper understanding of the poetic techniques used by Shakespeare and enrich the literary study of his sonnet poems.
